HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – With college students again and loads of snow on the bottom, Michigan Tech College (MTU) is gearing up for its annual Winter Carnival.
The occasion has been a campus custom for 101 years and has been organized by the Blue Key Nationwide Honors Society (BKNHS) since 1934.
“This yr’s theme is Scrumptious Meals for Winter Cheer,” stated MTU BKNHS President Joe Dlugos. “We tried to look again on the previous years. We’ve got all of our information on all of our previous themes, and we wished to look again and see what was totally different, what was new, what we hadn’t achieved earlier than, and the meals hadn’t been achieved.”
Many long-time favorites will return this yr, together with sweeping, curling, canine sledding and the crowning of the Winter Carnival Queen.
The campus can also be gearing up for its all-night snow sculpting occasion on Feb. 8, the primary evening of the carnival.
